One of the classic bits of Americana at the Smithsonia is taking a bit of a breather.  After a long period on pubic view Dorthy Gale’s Ruby Slippers from the 1939 film, The Wizard of OZ have been removed for conservation work.  
The world-famous footwear is scheduled to return to exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in April.
