NWashington, D.C.
Here’s a look at Amine el Khalifi, the somewhat hapless would-be suicide bomber that was caught up in an F.B.I sting operation this week.
El Khalifi thought he was headed to the U.S. Capitol building armed with a handgun and a vest full of high explosives. What he found out though, was that the F.B.I. has been tracking him form months, drawing him into a phoney terror plot.
The vest and gun were harmless but El Khalifi intentions were anything but. El Khalifi has been charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against U.S. property.
Interestingly, el Khalifi’s former landlord told reporters that he had tried to alert Virginia police about his tenant’s tendencies a year ago but that his tips to law enforcement were ignored.
